The BIG Question

I always wondered of how to allow a visitor to navigate around the city feeling confident enough as if s/he was a local. The objective was therefore aimed to:

• Maximise the quality time spent by the intelligent visitor who is eager to explore the detail of the Maltese historical remains and sites, and
• Ensure a collective conscience about the importance of viewing Malta’s heritage as a potential source of material wealth for the nation.

I approached the respective local councils of Vittoriosa and Valletta and explained to them my initiative.  Both mayors Mr.J.Boxall (Vittoriosa Local Council) and Dr. P. BorgOlivier (Valletta Local Council) welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm and their input support was crucial to materialize the concept.

It is a great pleasure for me (Dr.Paul Borg Oliver) as Mayor of Malta's Capital city to welcome you to Valletta. Valletta is an Archicultural living experience, a dynamic Capital, an important centre for Culture and performing arts and an economic hub, full of activity.

Birgu has an immense reservoir of cultural history.  This helped to make us what we are today, an ethnic group with a sound foundation borne out of the qualities taken from the many societies who have previously ruled here .  Over the decades the people of Birgu have succeeded in building a life, a culture, something to believe in.  

This project provides a detailed insight into the way of life of Birgu people.  It combines technology with vision, innovation and dedication.   Please share this unique experience with your colleagues, friends and family.
